Why it’s important to keep checking your electricity plan to make sure you are not overpaying

One of our Joulius customers recently learned why it pays to keep sending in a recent bill every so often.

When he first joined in June of 2021, we saved Peter over $500 on his home electricity costs over a 12 month period by moving to one of the smaller retailers, Electricity in a Box. Several months later, another retailer offered even better rates and so he moved again. This time it was to ReAmped, where he made another reasonable saving over the following 12 months.

Roll on to July 2022 and the market had changed significantly; his current retailer sent him a price change notification which indicated his rates were going to increase by over 100%. Woah!

Joulius to the rescue!

Peter sent in his most recent bill, which reflected the increased rates. This time we found him over $1,300 in savings over the next 12 months by moving to a new retailer.

Given the volatility in the retail electricity market at the moment, and the extraordinary rise in prices that some retailers made last year, you should be aware of any price changes that affect you and re-check your current plan against the market.

Remember, just because you’ve switched in the last few months, doesn’t mean you are still on the best rate.

  • To check the whole market (not just your current retailer) give Joulius a try. We compare all retailers, and all Generally Available plans of the same tariff type as your current plan, to find you the best savings we can.
  • All we need is a recent bill in electronic pdf format to get started. Get started here – it will take you less than 5 minutes and its completely free to use.

Cost of living increases are on everyone’s minds right now. The good news is you don’t have to overpay for your electricity any more. Let Joulius do the ‘’heavy lifting’’ for you by checking the market so you have up to date information on the best offers out there. The decision to switch is always yours.
